Professor at Shanghai Maritime University; Principal of the former Institute of Water Transport Economics (1996-2005); Director of Port and Navigation Industry and Economic Research Office of the Science Institute; Visiting Professor of the U.S. Old Dominion University; Member of the Graduate Education Steering Committee of Shanghai Maritime University; concurrently serving as a member of the council of Ocean Limnology Society and deputy director of the Marine Economic Commission, member of the Advisory Committee of the Taiwan Affairs Office of the Shanghai Municipal People's Government.

Professor Shou has important influence in the shipping industry in China;, he has long been engaged in the research of port and shipping technology economy, marine economy, ship type and route demonstration, logistics management and planning, shipping policy and management, transportation technology economic evaluation and management. He has published dozens of articles at home and abroad. He carried out more than 60 scientific research projects, among them, he in charged of or participated in the completion of seventeen national and provincial-level projects and he also won one provincial and ministerial awards and one China Port Technology Award.
