Mr. Huang Xiaowen, vice president and party committee member of China Shipping (Group) Company, gave a guest lecture to the 2013 shipping finance executive MBA students at SAIIS on September 19.

Mr. Huang has been the managing director and executive director of the container transportation department of China Ocean Shipping Company since 2006, and its deputy party secretary since 2007. He is now also the board chairman of Universal Shipping (Asia) Co., Ltd. and Shanghai Puhai Shipping Co., Ltd.

The lecture focuses on how modern enterprises could successfully tackle with challenges in the current business climate. Mr. Huang explained from three perspectives that data would substantially change industries and business functions: the transformation of modern enterprise system, the innovation to business modes, and the significance of Big Data. In addition, he pointed out both the internal and external structural challenges that today’s enterprises are faced with, and illustrated in detail the meaning of modern enterprise system as well as several key aspects during transition. When talking about innovations to business modes, Mr. Huang showed some real-world cases to make specific analyses.

According to the EMBA students, Mr. Huang’s lecture is highly welcomed for providing rich materials and fresh perspectives.
