On the afternoon of June 6, professor Yu Shicheng, the party secretary of Shanghai Maritime University, gave a lecture about the Current Status and Prospect of Maritime Code for the students of Ship Finance EMBA in SMU Dongming Road Campus.

As a senior expert in the field of Chinese maritime code, professor Yu Shicheng introduced the international and practical characteristics of maritime code. He said all countries are exploring the effective measures to adapt to the new situation of the shipping development. Besides, he interpreted the possible problems and challenges the marine carriers have to face in the modern shipping situation as well as the conventions used to solve such problems.

Professor Yu Shicheng is the vice president of China Institute of Navigation, the member of the Ministry of Communications Expert Committee as well as the arbitrator and lawyer of China Maritime Arbitration Commission. He was once engaged in draftingMaritime Code of the People’s Republic of China, Law of Port and Shipping Act.

Professor Yu’s lecture helped to broaden the students’ horizons and was well received by the students.
