The Second Qingdao Alumni Association of SMU held

On the afternoon of May 10, the second Qingdao alumni association of Shanghai Maritime University was held in Lushang Hyatt Regency of Qingdao. Over 180 schoolmates from Qingdao and neighboring areas gathered for co-development and friendship. Our school’s secretary of the party committee Yu Shicheng, vice president Yang Wanfeng, deputy secretary of the party committee & secretary of the discipline inspection commission Men Yanping, vice president Wang Haiwei as well as our institute’s executive deputy dean Yu Siqin were invited to attend the election of the association.


Liu Jie, English major graduate, was elected as president of the second Qingdao alumni association, and Chen Haibo as vice president and general secretary.


Yu Shicheng warmly congratulated the grand opening of the second Qingdao alumni association, fully affirmed the achievements made by the association since its establishment and introduced the process of Alma Mater’s transition from Minsheng Road Campus to Lingang Campus and its leaping development. He said our school is aimed at becoming a worldwide high-level maritime university by 2020, but it can’t do without the support and joint efforts of all the schoolmates.


At the gathering, the inscription Home of Sea Melody by president Huang Youfang was displayed and the letter of congratulations from honorary president Wang Jianping of the first Qingdao alumni association was read as well. President Wang Yonggang, on behalf of Rizhao alumni association, also warmly congratulated the successful election of the second Qingdao alumni association.


President Liu Jie delivered a speech on behalf of Qingdao alumni. He said as the new president he will strive to live up to the trust of Qingdao alumni and establish a distinguishing communication platform for Qingdao alumni and Alma Mater. He also wished Alma Mater a bright future.


Zang Yingnian, pelagic major graduate from the class of 1962 and Dong Yuanzhi, shipping major graduate from the class of 1988 gave talks respectively, expressing their thanks to Alma Mater and their wishes to make contributions to the interactive communication between schoolmates and Alma Mater and the development of the school as well.


So far over 300 schoolmates have been registered since the establishment of Qingdao Alumni Association.
