On the afternoon of May 13, signing ceremony of the agreement to co-build China (Shanghai) Free Trade Zone Inspection and Quarantine Policy Research Institute between Shanghai Maritime University and Shanghai Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine Bureau was held in Shanghai Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine Bureau. President Xu Jinji, vice presidents Zhou Juwen and Lijin of Shanghai Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine Bureau as well as heads of relevant departments, president Huang Youfang, vice president & deputy secretary of the Party Committee Kong Fancun of SMU and executive deputy dean Yu Siqin of SAIIS attended the ceremony. The ceremony was hosted by vice president Zhou Juwen.

President Huang Youfang expressed in his speech that by the platform of free trade zone supply chain research institute, Shanghai Maritime University will spare no efforts to support the Research Institute on the aspects of humans, venues, funding and so on. He also expressed his hope that both sides will make the most of respective advantages to make the institute a model of political, academic, industrial &  research cooperation and promote the education of inspection and quarantine professionals and the research of free trade zone policies.

President Xu Jinji expressed his thanks for the SMU’s support to the Shanghai Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine Bureau. He said that on the basis of good previous cooperation, both sides will surely make new contributions to the construction of free trade zone and the improvement of inspection and quarantine systems.

Vice presidents Kong fancun and Lijin, on behalf of both sides, signed the Agreement to Co-build China (Shanghai) Free Trade Zone Inspection and Quarantine Policy Research Institute as well as the Agreement of Cooperative Research. According to the agreements, both sides will cooperate on the aspects of system innovation, research project, education and training and lab co-construction etc.
