On the afternoon of Feb. 27, the opening ceremony of 2014 Cruise EMBA program of SAIIS was held in Lingang Campus of Shanghai Maritime University. Xiao Guiyu, deputy secretary general of Shanghai Municipal People’s Government, Yang Jinsong, director of Municipal Tourism Bureau, Zhang Lin, deputy director of Municipal Transportation and Port Administration Bureau and so on were invited to attend the ceremony. Huang Youfang, president of Shanghai Maritime University, vice president Jin Yongxing, vice president Xiao Baojia, together with the heads of other institutes and functional departments, were present at the ceremony as well. Xu Dazhen, executive dean of Shanghai Advanced Institute of International Shipping hosted the ceremony.

At the ceremony, deputy secretary general Xiao Guiyu affirmed in his speech the great contributions made by our university to promoting the development of cruise economy and the strategic planning to take the national lead in building a cultivation platform for high-end cruise service talents. He also praised our great efforts to help build the emerging market of Shanghai international shipping center by taking advantage of the disciplinary professional characteristics. President Huang Youfang, on behalf of the university, expressed his thanks for all the attention and support from national relevant ministries and commissions, Shanghai municipal relevant government departments as well as the industrial and academic circles. He said Shanghai Maritime University will strive to cultivate shipping human resources and build an integrating platform for various fields such as industry, academy, research, policy, business, capital and so on. Professor Marc Mancini, the famous international tourism lecturer, and Gong Lei, vice president of China Merchants Shekou Industrial Zone, delivered speeches on behalf of teachers and students. Vice president Jin Yongxing awarded the flag to the student representative at the ceremony .

After the ceremony, vice president Li Xunlei from Haitong Securities gave a lecture called China’s Financial and Economic Outlook and Investment Trend for 2014.
