From September 9 to September 11, in the first class of the new semester,Shanghai Advanced Institute of International Shipping invited Professor Li Ruoshan, who is known as the “first Chinese auditor”, to come to share his experience. Prof. Li lectured on the application of accounting in corporate management activities. After three days of enriching and intensive courses, students felt tired but felt that time was too short and their intentions were not exhausted. Looking back on these three days of teaching, the content was professional and the atmosphere was relaxed, leaving too many unforgettable memories.

Professor Li Ruoshan’s has an outstanding performance in his profession. Li Ruoshan is a Ph.D.tutor in the accounting department of School of Management at Fudan University, the first doctor in auditing in New China and a member of the budget review committee of the Shanghai State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission. He is vice president of Shanghai Accounting Association, vice president of Auditing Society, independent director of five large companies. He once served as deputy dean of the School of Management of Fudan University, director of the Accounting Department, Director of the Finance Department, member of the Expert Committee of the Listed Companies of the Shanghai Stock Exchange, consultant of the Accounting Standards Committee of the Ministry of Finance, member of the Shanghai Judicial Accounting Appraisal Committee and member of the Academic Committee of the Chinese Accounting Society Committee. He was also the director of Fudan Financial Futures Institute, deputy director of the accounting department of the School of Economics of Xiamen University, and associate dean of the School of Economics.

A series of titles symbolize strength and professionalism, symbolizing Prof. Li Ruoshan’s practical experience. He deserved "the first person in China's auditing".

The theory of accounting is the most complex and difficult thing to understand. Even with the bright and simple slides and explanation, it may not be able to understand the profound things in a simple way, let alone how to apply accounting to business operations. However, these difficulties were solved in the Prof. Li’s classes.

During his classes, you can always hear students’ laughter. After laughing, they cannot be satisfied with only having one lesson from Prof. Li. What Mr. Li is best at is to make the complicated accounting theory easy to understand: he is the “accounting magician” in the eyes of the students. As the speaker pointing at the screen “decoding finance”, his novel, sharp and  popular won a crowd of fans. Those complex calculations and reports, under the guidance of Mr. Li’s analysis, become clear and easy to understand. Without profound education and rich practical experience, this cannot be achieved.

The most fascinating point of Professor Li’s class is endless examples. Each example shows that accounting is indispensable in the business activities of the company; each example shows an important issue and each example is the lesson for companies that must be learned and need to avoid in the future.

What kind of lawsuit did Taobao’s “double 11” sales launch? How did Zhou Yiming, former CEO of Sichuan Mingxing Electric Power, use capital operations to gain wealth? How can enterprise managers use financial accounting to reward employees? Students can not only master the knowledge but also can understand it deeply. In particular, Mr. Li discussed the disputes over  Vanke’s CEO Wang Shi’s to the point: “To engage in capital management, the first capital structure must be done well. Shareholders, the board of directors and the manager should do a good job. If this is not done, the company will be in a very passive position whatever slogan you shouted before"

Accounting is a boring science in the eyes of others, and dealing with numbers, statistics, and forms all day is also boring. However, Professor Li was humorous and witty so the content of the case become a comic strip while the depth of the content included examples covering hundreds of millions of capitals and the latest developments of various industries in the market.
