On the morning of December 19th, the first China New Silk Road Maritime Industry Research and Development Strategy Seminar was held in the Pingtan Free Trade Zone in Fujian. Huang Youfang (president of Shanghai Maritime University), Xu Weize (director of Pingtan Free Trade Experimental Zone Management Committee), Ding Yuanzheng (chairman of China Hong Kong Logistics Group, Ni Jianyi (General Manager of New Idea Enterprise Group), Doctoral delegation of Shanghai Advanced International Maritime Academy and other delegations from shipping and ports companies, together more than 50 senior management personnel from logistics enterprises and institutions attended the meeting.
President Huang Youfang gave a keynote speech titled "Integrating the ‘One Belt, One Road’ Strategy to Enhance the Value Chain of Production, Learning and Research Cooperation." President Huang explained the development opportunities for the shipping industry brought by the “Belt and Road” national policy from the aspects of history, national economic strategy, and globalization. He believed that under the premise of changes in the supply and demand relationship of the world economy, we should first and foremost strengthen the right to speak in the formulation of international trade, international logistics, and global supply chain rules. President Huang drew on the spot and introduced the equestrian competition in the Pingtan Free Trade Zone as an example to show that technical trade measures would occupy an important position in the world trade logistics supply chain and introduced research done by Shanghai Maritime University in this field in recent years. He said that Shanghai Maritime University, as an export base for shipping logistics personnel, was very willing to help the various innovative measures in the Pingtan Free Trade Experimental Area and make positive contributions to Pingtan's strategic development research and personnel training.
President Huang’s speech won professionals’ recognition. Xu Weize, deputy secretary of the Party Work Committee of Pingtan Free Trade Experimental Zone and director of the Management Committee, said that Pingtan has many advantages such as policy, infrastructure, industry, integration with Taiwan, tourism, reform and innovation, and is eager to face good development opportunities. He hoped that the experts and scholars of Shanghai Maritime University will participate in the development and construction of Pingtan, and he looked forward to the full cooperation between the two sides in the fields of production, learning and research.
Ni Jianlu, general manager of New Silk Road Enterprise Group, said that this seminar would be conducive to condensing the advantages of the three parties of enterprises, governments, and universities, and would play an active role in the development of Pingtan's industrial economy and the creation of a new type of industrial think tank with Chinese characteristics.
At the meeting, Shanghai Maritime University, New Silk Road Enterprise Group, and China Hong Kong Logistics Group signed a strategic cooperation agreement and established a maritime production, research and research base.

It aims to explore the space and ideas for the development of maritime production, education, and research under the background of the “One Belt and One Road” international strategy.
