On March 7, the 2015 SMU Fuzhou alumni gathering in Chinese New Year was grandly and happily held at the West Lake Hotel, Fuzhou. Professor Yu Shicheng, the former secretary of the Party Committee of Shanghai Maritime University, chairman of the Education Development Foundation, professor Yu Siqin, the executive deputy dean of Shanghai Advanced Institute of International Shipping, etc, were invited to attend the gathering. A total of more than 120 alumni from Fuzhou and its surrounding area gathered, giving congratulations on another new year. Kind greetings and words of care connected participants.

Professor Yu Shicheng congratulated on the successful hosting of Fuzhou alumni reunion and conveyed the greetings of the secretary of the Party Committee Jin Yongxing and president Huang Youfang. Besides, he fully recognized the performance SMU Fuzhou Alumni Association has achieved since its founding and introduced the development the alma mater has got on all sides in recent years.

 Guo Bin, chairman of the association, addressed the gathering on behalf of all the alumni in Fuzhou. He said it is a great honor for him to serve the association and its members; and it is evident that the association has built  up bridges between Fuzhou alumni and their alma mater. He also introduced the various and successful activities the association has held. 

Professor Yu Siqin, the dean of SAIIS attended the gathering and introduced the enrollment plan of the institute in 2015.

Shanghai Maritime University Fujian Alumni Association was founded in February, 2011. Since its founding, the association has held various and successful activities which have greatly helped to connect increasing alumni in Fuzhou and also promote the communication and cooperation between the alumni as well as alumni and their alma mater. The alumni reunion this year also invited some alumni association chairmen in other areas , which laid a good foundation for the exchanges and cooperation among the alumni associations.
